Welcome to geosense!

The department for Sensor-based Geoinformatics (geosense) focuses on assessing the biosphere with novel sensor and algorithmic technologies. This includes a wide array of remote sensing solutions, including Earth observation satellites, drones, or citizen science data, which are analyzed with cutting-edge data analytical methods, including deep learning and computer vision. We are particualarly interested in using these sensor and computational technologies for assessing functional traits and diversity, plant species distributions or monitoring plant stress and mortality.

Find here a list of our ressources:

  • deadtrees.earth - an online system for tracking tree mortality with drones and satellites
  • AngleCam - a computer vision method for tracking leaf movements.
  • Global trait maps - raster products on the global distribution of plant functional traits.
